Following personal experience of domestic abuse I developed a keen interest in self help books & complementary therapies. I decided to study psychology/counselling in 2010 because I became fascinated by the workings of the human mind & the powerful effects this can have on the functioning of an individual. During my studies I sought help from a professional hypnotherapist for anxiety/panic and I began to see the potential of this therapy to help. Once I completed my degree, I then decided to take further training in hypnotherapy & psychotherapy. Although this appeared a natural progression of my personal interests. The main reason I pursued this area was because I genuinely believe that difficulties that people face can be managed. For example after doing various amounts of research on anxiety & panic I began to believe that this must be reversible or manageable because I never experienced it prior to my experience of domestic abuse.
Following this I realised that working with hypnosis which has now extended to psychotherapeutic counselling was an area that I had become extremely passionate about & I knew that I would find this area very rewarding to work in. Therefore the type of service that I aim to provide is similar to what I would expect to receive.
